The Weekly Dig

# One email a week. What to plant, what to fix, and what to leave alone.

Written for people with actual gardens and limited time. Every issue is checked against university extension research before it goes out, and we say so when the evidence is thin.

- One email a week, never more

## What actually lands in your inbox

01

### Seasonal timing

What is worth doing in the garden this week, by climate zone rather than by calendar date.

02

### One thing explained properly

Soil, compost, companion planting or food forest design, with the research behind it rather than the folklore.

03

### Honest answers

Including when the answer is that a popular technique does not work, or is not worth the effort.

No daily emails, no drip sequences, no manufactured urgency. If a week has nothing useful in it, you will not hear from us that week.

## The 7-Layer Backyard

The guide we wish someone had handed us at the start. Read it on a Saturday morning, use it the same afternoon.

- All seven layers explained, from canopy down to root crops, with what to actually plant in each.
- A design that works in an ordinary yard rather than on ten acres.
- Two printable worksheets to map your own space.
- Every claim sourced, so you can check the reasoning rather than take our word for it.

## Questions people ask before subscribing

How often does it actually arrive?

Once a week. If a given week has nothing genuinely useful in it, we skip that week rather than pad an issue out. There are no daily emails and no automated drip sequences.

What does it cost?

Nothing. The newsletter and The 7-Layer Backyard guide are both free. GrowPerma is funded by affiliate links on a small number of tools we have field-tested, which is disclosed on every page that carries one.

Do I need to know anything about permaculture already?

No. The Weekly Dig is written for gardeners who suspect mainstream gardening advice is missing something but find permaculture writing too academic to get into. If you have a garden and limited time, you are the reader we write for.

What happens to my email address?

We store it to send you the newsletter and nothing else. We do not sell it, rent it, or pass it to third parties. Full detail is in our [privacy policy](https://growperma.com/privacy-policy?hsLang=en).

How do I unsubscribe?

Every issue carries an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click and you are out, with no confirmation step and no attempt to talk you round.

Can I see the kind of thing you publish first?

Yes. There are over 500 guides on the [blog](https://growperma.com/blog?hsLang=en), written to the same standard and checked against the same sources. The newsletter is that work, filtered down to what matters this week.

## Start this Saturday, not next season

The guide downloads straight away. Confirm your email for the Monday issues.
